Katherine Dyer,DVMOwner and Medical Supervisor
Dr. Dyer has spent 20+ years as a doctor embracing the full diversity of veterinary medicine, practicing in small animal, large animal, exotic and emergency care. After years of experience came the desire to build a great hospital of her own: Lake Geneva Veterinary Hospital (now Family Pet Practice) was purchased in 2004, followed by Wixom Veterinary Clinic (now Wixom Family Pet Practice) in 2011. She has a strong dedication to all pets and the families who love them, as evidenced by her own multi-species family of 2 boys, dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and sheep. In her free time, you will find her outdoors, riding horses, kayaking, camping or SCUBA diving.

Julie Foster,DVMAssociate Veterinarian
Dr. Foster went to Michigan State University for her undergraduate studiesand veterinary school. She graduated in 2005 and practiced in Chicago,Livonia and Clinton Township before joining Wixom Family Pet Practice. Shelives with her husband, 2 children and her Bernese Mountain Dog, Scrubs andblack cat, Satara. She enjoys traveling, reading, going up north with herfamily and crafting.

Alex Gentile,DVMAssociate Veterinarian
Dr. Alex Gentile is a graduate of the Michigan State University College ofVeterinary Medicine. He received his Master of Public Health from GeorgeWashington University and his Bachelor of Science with concentrations inNeurobiology, Ecology, as well as Cellular Biology and Evolution fromMichigan State University.
He is Fear-Free Certified. His professional interests include nutrition, pain management and palliative care, as well as surgery.
Together with his wife and fellow veterinarian, Haley, they are raising two young children, two dogs, two turtles, and honeybees. In his free time, he is an avid gardener and reading enthusiast.

Amy MayhewLicensed Veterinary Technician & Ultrasonographer
Amy graduated from Michigan State University’s veterinary technician program in 2001. She has spent over 15 years working side by side with an internal medicine specialist, gaining experience in ultrasonography. This inspired her to complete a formal and comprehensive ultrasound training program. She is excited to bring these advanced diagnostic skills to family Pet Practice! Believing that pets are important family members, she is dedicated to creating a calm and fear-free environment. Amy and her family enjoy camping by Lake Michigan, game nights, and caring for their many rescued animals at “The Mayhew Zoo.”

Andree DawkinsLicensed Veterinary Technician
Andree has always loved animals since she can remember. She got her first pet at 12 years old. She graduated from Sanford Brown College with a degree in Applied Sciences and obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2013. When not working hard as an LVT, she loves cooking and trying new recipes, watching home renovation shows, and would love to renovate a home in the future!

Karen BaustertLicensed Veterinary Technician
Karen is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who graduated from Macomb Community College. She discovered she wanted to be a Veterinary Technician in her teen years when she met a LVT at her own dogs appointment. She has a passion for owners to be knowledgeable and pets to be comfortable during their appointments. In her spare time she enjoys being with her husband, step daughter, cat named Monkey, and mouse named Panda.

Ashley SquireCertified Veterinary Assistant
Growing up Ashley was lucky to be surrounded by animals. She grew up on a farm and loved spending her days outside with all of the animals. Her family had cows, pigs, ducks, geese chickens, rabbits and dogs. As a team member of WFPP Ashley loves being able to provide outstanding care for her clients and their companions, to live a long happy life. In Ashley's spare time she enjoys spending time with daughter Lillianna and her golden retriever Nala, taking long walks, playing fetch, gardening, crafting, and cooking.

Alexis HartVeterinary Technician Assistant
Alexis is a lover of all animals, big and small. She has worked at zoos, aquariums, animal shelters, and now vet clinics! She graduated from Oakland University in 2020 with a degree in biology and has a specialty in animal behavior observation and interpretation. She also helps conduct research on welfare and enrichment for animals in zoos. In her free time, Alexis loves spending time with her umbrella cockatoo, Beekee, and her two dogs, Bijou and Kalvin

Eleanor is a new hire at WFPP, while learning everything there is to know she will also be studying to receive her associate's to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician through Penn Foster. In her free time, she can be found dancing in a studio or on an adventure with friends.

Jessica TharpVeterinary Assistant
Jessica has spent the last 14 years working with animals. She has doneeverything from Manage Dog Daycare's, owned a Pet Sitting Business, fosterdogs and work her way into the Veterinary Assistant career. Jessica lovesbeing able to work with and help all animals. She and her Husband have oneteenage son, two cats, a bearded dragon, fish and a lovable dog named BabyLove. In her spare time, Jessica likes to read, bake and crochet.

Alana MehayVeterinary Assistant
Alana received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Oakland University in2019 and is currently pursuing her DVM as a second-year student at MichiganState’s College of Veterinary Medicine. At a young age, she realized her passion for animals and the sciences and has worked in the veterinary profession for the past 6 years. When she is not studying or working, Alana can be found cuddled up with her fur- child, Beauty, while reading a book or hiking and camping accompanied by her boyfriend.
